Hi Nicole,
We made it home safely finally. We had some issues on the way home. The "low tire" I seen at the arena was actually a nail in the tire, so we changed that about an hour out of Edmonton Then just this side of Jasper we blew another tire, so we had to re-fill the "nailed" tire and put it back on, and we limped the trailer home. (6 more hours....next time we'll pack more than one spare...). We stopped a few times for 20 minutes or so to let Twitch stand still.
I have to say that even through all the commotion, he was a perfect gentleman. He did NOT stomp, kick, holler or complain once. We only felt him move in the trailer once and it wasn't even when the tire blew up. And that should have scared the crap out of him. The chunk of tire put a huge dint in the fender well. Even when we got home and my two horses called to him, he didn't even move a muscle in the trailer. Calmly waited for Al to take him out. He didn't rush out or anything. Al walked him around the one pasture which is about 3 acres while my two ran up and down the fences acting like idiots, and he was so calm. Once out of the trailer he waited till they were in the field and then he took a pee that lasted about 4 minutes. Apparently he doesn’t like to pee in the trailer!! That was 12 hours he was in there.! Amazing!
You have done such a fine job with him. He has impeccable ground manners and is so sweet. Even when we put him in the with the other horses, he didn't pay any attention to their silliness. He's taken a liking to Al so far and followed him around the field. We were truly impressed with him on the way home. Never had a horse or heard of a horse that rides that calmly in a trailer for that long. Every time we stopped he'd just watch us, and loved it when we put our hands into pet him.
Thank you Nicole, you’re an incredible horse woman! Keep up the great work!!!!
Barb and Al
